Notes for REBECCA COLLINS HAYNES:

In the letter dated May 9th 186, Sophia says,

"Poor Martin at Croydon fell down dead on 28th January 1860. Randle is carrying on the business. Charles is something like his father - very queer"

As we know from this family, they often used second names! I have found a death in BMD for Q March 1860 for Thomas MARTIN at Croydon 2a 112. Also a death from Rebeccca Collins MARTIN for Q December 1876 at Croydon 2a 114. This has her age at death as 73 and as she was born 1802 this makes it about right.

In the letters Sophia says she gets stone from Martin for Tom HALL"s grave. From the census records Rebecca"s husband is employs 6 men and is a Bricklayer.
